Who we are

Great Minds Psychiatry & Wellness is a patient-centered outpatient psychiatric practice serving children, adolescents, and adults ages 10 and up. Led by Dr. Mary Daniels, a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with nearly 20 years of healthcare experience, we provide psychiatric evaluations, medication management, supportive therapy, and ADHD evaluation and testing, in person in Virginia and by secure telehealth in eight jurisdictions.

We commonly help people living with ADHD, anxiety, depression, insomnia, OCD, and PTSD or trauma-related concerns, along with other appropriate outpatient psychiatric concerns. Our goal is to help each person feel more stable, function better at home, at school, and at work, and move toward the life they want. ADHD care is an important part of what we do, from evaluation and objective testing to ongoing treatment, but our care goes well beyond a single condition.

Our approach starts with understanding the whole person, not just a list of symptoms. A thorough evaluation looks at your history, health, daily functioning, and goals. From there we build an individualized, evidence-based plan that may include medication management, supportive therapy, and, when helpful, objective tools such as QbCheck ADHD testing or GeneSight pharmacogenomic testing. Regular follow-up lets us adjust care as your needs change, so progress is meaningful and lasting.

Our commitment

  • Compassionate, respectful, and personalized care in a supportive environment
  • Evidence-based treatment, with nothing prescribed automatically
  • Care for the whole person, not only the diagnosis
  • Prompt access: new patients usually seen within 1–2 weeks
  • Insurance accepted, with simple self-pay rates. Insurance & fees

What we don't provide

So you can find the right care quickly, here is what falls outside our practice:

  • Emergency or crisis services. If you are in immediate danger, call 911, or call or text 988.
  • Care for suicidal crises, psychosis, or schizophrenia, which need in-person evaluation and a higher level of support.
  • Standalone weekly psychotherapy. Supportive therapy may be part of your psychiatric care; for ongoing therapy we refer you to an appropriate therapist.

About our practice

Who do you see?

Ages 10 and up: children, adolescents, and adults.

Do you provide therapy?

Supportive therapy may be incorporated into psychiatric care when clinically appropriate. Great Minds is not a standalone weekly psychotherapy practice. If you need a more specialized or ongoing therapy, we will refer you to an appropriate therapist.

Are there conditions you do not treat?

Yes. Great Minds is primarily a telehealth practice. For safety and appropriate evaluation, we do not provide care for suicidal crises, psychosis, or schizophrenia, which need in-person evaluation and a higher level of support. If you are in crisis, call or text 988, or call 911.

Which states do you serve?

Virginia, Washington, D.C., Maryland, Washington State, Colorado, Connecticut, Arizona, and Massachusetts, subject to applicable telehealth requirements. You must be physically located in one of these states at the time of your appointment.
